Buyer beware. Does not fit Schedule 40 PVC. It fits only the SDR35, the smaller white PVC. Unfortunately, it costs more in freight to return it than it originally cost to buy it. Although the wording on Amazon left the size difference unaddressed, I wrote the $11.94 purchase price off to buyer error and a lesson learned. SDR is the thin small sized PVC. Hope this helps other buyers from making the same mistake.

I used 3 inch ABS foam core pipe to take the downspout water away, but the core degrades in sunlight so I finished the pipe off with a coupler (which is solid ABS and okay in sunlight). It was hard to find an adapter that would fit the coupler: I tried three local hardware stores (2 big box and one independent) and all the adapters were either much too big or the same size as the coupler but too big to glue to the drainpipe. I ordered this one with my fingers crossed, and it worked perfectly!

I used this adapter for my rain barrel setup. It adapts our 2" x 3" aluminum downspouts to the 3" PVC (not drainage pipe). Could not find it in stores. The circular end will not fit into a 3" PVC pipe, it is too large. However, it will fit into a 3" PVC elbow, not very snug, but works with screws holding it together.
