ASME B16 47 flange is  just another name for ANSI B16.47 type of flange. Therefore, there is hardly or no difference between both, ASME and ANSI.  The full form of ASME stands for American Society of Mechanical Engineers, while the full form of ANSI stands for the American National Standards Institute. Although both these organizations are non-profit ones, they are private organizations. As the name very clearly indicates, the ASME B16.47 slip on flanges are a type of pipe flanges that can be slipped on over a pipe. This category of flanges are produced in such a way that the inside diameter of the flange, is a bit larger as compared to the outside diameter of the pipe. These slip on flanges are connected to the pipe, with the help of a fillet weld at the bottom and at the top of the flange. Slip on flanges of ASME B16.47 are basically provided with either a flat face or a raised face. In applications that require the use of ASME B16.47 with a raised face, pipe flanges under 400# with a standard height of 1/16 inch is used. And for slip on flanges of asme b16 47 flanges of 400# and higher classes , the standard raised face height is 1/4".
