Orbinox Uni-Directional Knife Gate Valve (EX Series)

POA

The Orbinox Uni-Directional Knife Gate Valve, EX range is a Uni-directional, Semi-lugged, fully ported, non-clog, Wafer Pattern knife gate valve, with Rising Stem.

Typically used for isolation and end of line duties in municipal sewage and general industrial service applications, the knife gate valve can be supplied with a Metal/Metal seat or a unique, replaceable, resilient seat design with a reinforced, Stainless Steel retainer ring that mechanically locks the seal into the body. Various material options and seat arrangement designs can be selected including material deflection cones, high performance rings and for high temperature and high density media applications. All ensure secure uni-directional shut-off and the internal design of the body ensures a non-clog performance with a media of suspended solids, including Pulp & Paper, Food & Beverage, Raw Sewage, Sludges and Slurries.

Supplied with an AISI 430 Stainless Steel, Rising Stem as standard and a compact and extremely robust, Carbon Steel Yoke with AISI 304 Stainless Steel option, it can be supplied with DIN (EN 1092-2) PN6, PN10, PN16, PN25 or ANSI 150 flange connections, in sizes from DN50 up to DN1200. Larger sizes are available as are alternative flange connections and a Non-Rising Stem option.

Available in Cast Iron as standard, the EX model ‘monoblock’ cast body, reinforced with ribs in larger diameters, includes internal cast-in guides and gate wedges allowing for a tighter gate/seat shut-off. This results in a fully guided gate and assured uni-directional shut-off, minimising the chance of gate seizure due to a build-up of solids over time. For finer solid applications, flushing ports can be added and depending on the process, purging can be achieved using steam, air or other liquids. All sizes of bodies are full ported for maximum flow capacity and minimal head loss. Larger sizes are available on request along with 60° or pentagonal V-Port design options dependent on the type of fluid control required.

The Stem is Stainless Steel whilst the gate, in AISI 304 as standard, is polished on both sides, lapped and supplied with a bevelled edge, specifically to cut through solids. This avoids seat damage, jamming of the gate and optimises the seal between the gate, seat and packing. The packing, as standard, is PTFE impregnated synthetic fibre with an EPDM O-ring for long-life performance and is easily adjustable with an accessible Gland Follower. A bonnet with atmospheric sealing and Stem packing options for greater packing protection is available along with other Stem, Gate & Packing Materials so please contact the Office to discuss your particular application for design optimisation.

For a high quality, corrosion resistant finish, the Carbon Steel Yoke and Cast Iron Body are Fusion Bonded Epoxy Coated, RAL-5015 Blue, internally and externally. Suitable for a media of suspended solids, including Raw Sewage & Wastewater Treatment Plants, Thermal Hydrolysis Plants, Sludge & Slurry Handling, Food and Beverage, Chemical Plants, Agriculture and Biogas Handling. Designed to meet UK MACHINE and Pressure Equipment Directives, the valves are CE marked and the EX Model is also ATEX rated for hazardous area applications. On request the EX Knife Gate Valve can be certified to EN 14432: 2014 tanks for the transport of dangerous goods.
